Do I need to be a student at the NWU to stay here?
Yes, unfortunately we only allow students who are registered at the NWU to reside at TMM Lofts. If you are registered at another institution please reach out to us and we'll try and accommodate you.

Can I choose my roommate?
Should you have a friend you would prefer to live with you can indicate this to our office staff when handing in your contract and we will allocate you accordingly. Please note that a unit will only be allocated once credit checks have concluded and both parties are cleared to move in.

Will I be placed with someone who studies the same as me?
We try our best to place each resident with someone who studies the same subject as them to try and accommodate each resident and provide them with the opportunity to help one another ease into Varsity life.

What do I need to bring when I move in?
Since each unit is fully furnished you can bring the following:
-cutlery & crockery
-bedding
-stationery
-food items
-cleaning products
-other preferred personal belongings

Can I choose a unit to move in to?
With existing residents renewing their contracts and moving to other units you will, unfortunately, not be able to choose a specific unit and will be allocated to a unit based on availability.

Can someone sleepover?
Each resident is permitted to 2 free sleepovers for a single person (i.e one person for one night). Should you wish to have a guest stay over for longer you can book an additional night at R150 per person. Please note that all bookings must be arranged with office staff ahead of the time.

Are electricity charges added to the rent?
Electricity charges are not added to your monthly rental amount. TMM Lofts makes use of IS Metering as our pre-paid electricity partner. You can purchase tokens via your banking app or in-store at Friendly Grocer, Spar, etc.

How do I register my fingerprint?
Upon move-in day you will receive a welcome pack with a set of keys to your unit, a move-in inspection form, IS Metering documents, etc. On this day we will also register your fingerprint which will grant you access to TMM Lofts.

What is the duration of the contract?
All contracts at TMM Lofts are for the duration of 12 months. If you need to make an alternative arrangement kindly contact our office staff. Although we cannot agree to make any arrangements, we will try our best to accommodate you.
